Welcome to the website of John Marshall. Writer. Musician. Weirdo.
Welcome to the website of John Marshall. Here you will find music, demos, lyrics, links, gigs and all other things related to the musical happenings of John Marshall.
The Music. Most music on this site are rough demo recordings and were recorded with Garageband. John plays all guitars (electric, acoustic and bass) on all tracks and the drums, loops and percussion are all Garageband loops. Yes, some of it sounds the same but it’s just demo music, stuff recorded on a whim just to would have the idea down. Oh, and the music is best if listened to with headphones on or blasted through a car stereo... especially Flunk. The tunes: Frequency, Tonight, Slipping on the Moss, Get What You Deserve, Broken Oars and Whiskey Threw are The Shame songs. Disregard the noise madness at the end of Get What You Deserve.
The History. John is a self taught guitarist who has been writing his own music and songs since 2000. In 2001 he joined forces with Steven Dickey and formed The Shame. A little powerhouse duo with Sir Dickey on drums and John on guitar. In 2008, Marcy Dickey joined The Shame as vocalist. Marcy brings jazzy soul into the mix to help offset John’s punch-you-in-the-face rock n’ roll approach to singing and song writing.
In addition to playing with The Shame, John played with the unbelievably talented Pam Painter in the acoustic group Sugar Pistol. To this day, John claims that The Same, a Sugar Pistol song written and sang by Pam, is still the single greatest pop alternative tune no one has ever heard. John has also had the pleasure of playing with the greatest cover band EVER... Vigoda.
